Toddler Community: 18 months to 3 years

In the second half of infancy, the
child is still learning
unconsciously from his
environment, with more mobility
and self-will. Especially important
is the child's emerging ability to
use language to express himself.
In September of 2006, we started
the Montessori Elementary
Program with a class for children
aged 6-9 years, and subsequently,
we will add the upper elementary
program for 9-12 year olds. The
elementary aged child has amazing
powers of reasoning and
imagination. These children are
also at a stage where they begin to
understand abstract concepts.
Using their natural and strong
powers of imagination, the
elementary curriculum presents the
entire universe to them. The
children will work in groups often,
sharing information, exploring,
carrying out research.
Children's House 3 to 6 years
|
The Montessori classroom for
children aged 3 – 6 years is
classically referred to as the
“children’s house”. We sometimes
also refer to it as “preschool”. The
mixed age group provides an
opportunity for peer teaching as
the younger ones strive to do what
they see older children doing, and
the older ones reinforce what they
have learnt by teaching the
younger ones.
Infant Centre: 3 to 18 months

This is a special period of growth
and in addition to providing care,
the child is introduced to an early
Montessori experience, and
assisted in various key
developmental areas.
